Finance and Access to Funding
Finance and access to finance is critical in transforming research from ‘proof of concept’ through to commercialisation, funding spin outs, start-ups and business growth leading to wealth creation.
The group have reviewed the finance and funding ladder and concluded that this is well developed with no apparent gaps in supply and provision.
Some recommendations have been made to improve demand in the research funding areas and strengthen the private sector investment through the development of niche-focused business angel networks.
A model for stimulating economic growth by more robust exploitation of the region’s science and innovation capacity in the pillars has been recommended.
